Various special trains were run over the weekend at the beginning of July. Here one of the 2-4-0 Beyer Peacock tanks poses at Douglas prior to working one of the special trains on 1st July.

As you can see, there was a splendid turnout of folk dressed in Victorian era costume.

MANX ELECTRIC RAILWAY

This is the most wonderful eccentricity. A sort of hangover of the days of the "Inter Urban" tramway. It runs from Douglas to Ramsey along the East side of the island. At Laxey, where both these views were taken in 1973, it connects with the Snaefell Mountain Railway, oneof whose cars can be seen on the right of the picture below.
